Planned Giving

Create a legacy of music, connection, and inspiration.

For over 50 years, the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra has touched lives across the province — in concert halls, schools, libraries, hospitals, and community spaces in Winnipeg and beyond. Legacy gifts ensure that this work continues for generations.

By including the MCO in your will or estate plans, you help future audiences discover the same beauty, connection, and inspiration that your support makes possible today.

A planned gift is a meaningful way to reflect your values, support the music you love, and make a lasting difference in Manitoba’s cultural life.

Why Leave a Legacy Gift?

A legacy gift helps the MCO:

  • Bring stunning performances to audiences across Manitoba
  • Support innovative new music and emerging artists
  • Make music accessible to children, newcomers, seniors, and underserved communities
  • Sustain long-term artistic and community engagement initiatives
  • Strengthen the future of one of Canada’s leading chamber orchestras

Legacy gifts of any size make a powerful impact. Your generosity helps ensure that the MCO continues to inspire, connect, and uplift people for decades to come.

Ways to Make a Legacy Gift

Making a gift to the MCO — either during your lifetime or through your estate — may provide significant tax advantages to you or your estate. We encourage you to speak with your professional advisors about the benefits and options available to you.

There are several simple and flexible ways to include the MCO in your long-term plans:

    1. A Gift in Your Will (Bequest)

One of the most common and straightforward ways to leave a legacy.

You can designate a specific amount, specific assets (such as securities), a percentage of your estate, or the residue of your estate after other gifts.

Your gift remains fully revocable — you can update your plans at any time.

    2. RRSPs, RRIFs, or TFSAs

You can name the MCO as a full or partial beneficiary of your registered retirement accounts.

    3. Life Insurance Policies

You can name the MCO as a beneficiary of a new or existing insurance policy, often allowing you to make a larger future gift at a relatively low present cost.

    4. Gifts of Securities

You may transfer appreciated securities during your lifetime or through your estate.

Sample Will Wording

“I give [insert amount, percentage, or description of asset] to Manitoba Chamber Orchestra Inc., charitable registration number 11903 0187 RR0001, for its charitable purposes.”

We recommend sharing this wording with your lawyer or advisor to ensure it reflects your intentions.

Your Legacy, Your Values

A planned gift is deeply personal.

We understand that family and loved ones come first, and we are grateful for every act of generosity that supports the future of music in our province.

If you choose to include the MCO in your plans, we hope you’ll let us know.

This is not binding and does not require documentation, but it allows us to thank you, honour your intentions, and ensure your gift is used as you envision.

All conversations are confidential.
