The MCO is excited to announce its 2025/26 season. Across eight concerts from October to May, MCO's upcoming season will take audiences on a journey across vast musical landscapes where tradition and transformation flow together like water meeting air.
October opens with Canadian violinist Kerson Leong (October 8) performing and leading the MCO in Max Richter’s luminous Seasons Recomposed, alongside Vaughan Williams’ rhapsodic The Lark Ascending. World-renowned cellists Colin Carr, Denise Djokic, Santiago Cañón-Valencia, Matthias Bartolomey, Cameron Crozman, and Inbal Segev herald the start of the International Cello Festival of Canada (October 28) with works by Haydn, Vivaldi, Alexina Louie, and more. In November we welcome American violist-composer Nokuthula Ngwenyama performing her own work as player and composer (November 12). Prodigy British pianist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason and American conductor Jeri Lynne Johnson return to the MCO stage on February 18.
Iranian-American harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani makes his Winnipeg debut on March 11 with a new work by Julian Grant, and we welcome Winnipeg Sonora Voices with conductor Valdine Anderson in a choral program for a Sunday matinee on April 12, featuring a newly commissioned work by Kevin Lau.
Later in April, powerful voices rise in a stirring program of opera, Indigenous song, and folk tradition with Marion Newman and Melody Courage (April 30) in a co-curated program featuring stories of motherhood, loss, and joy. The season wraps with renowned Manitoba-born violinist James Ehnes appearing in a special solo recital presented by the MCO (May 8).
