Front of House Coordinator

Position Summary

The Front of House Coordinator plays a key role in shaping the audience experience at Manitoba Chamber Orchestra concerts. This position is responsible for the preparation, set-up, and management of front-of-house operations, ensuring a welcoming, organized, and seamless experience for patrons. The Coordinator oversees the bar and box office setup, and works closely with volunteers, staff, and venue representatives. They provide direction and support the front of house team, including box office lead, Vinyl Vault volunteers, bar volunteers, and ushers.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Event Preparation

  • Coordinate and stock bar supplies (wine, beer, non-alcoholic drinks, snacks, water, ice).
  • Ensure ticket scanners and iPads are charged and ready.

Day-of Concert Set-Up (at CAC or other venues)

  • Tidy front of house; remove clutter or excess signage/furniture.
  • Set up MCO signage: banners, bathroom signs, seating plans, and section indicators.
  • Prepare MCOBar: table set up, product, signage, iPad and Square terminal, liquor license.
  • Assist with box office setup: table, float, box office bin, guest list, tickets, iPad, and Square.
  • Distribute programs (and any inserts) to usher stations.
  • Tidy seat cushions and place at entrances.
  • Place reserved signs for accessible seating, sponsors, and special guests.
  • Assist with Vinyl Vault setup: table; iPad and Square terminal.
  • Connect and test ticket scanners, iPads, Square terminals.

During the Event

  • Greet guests, oversee front-of-house operations, and support volunteers and staff.
  • Troubleshoot basic tech issues related to Square or ticket scanners.
  • Provide excellent customer service and foster a welcoming atmosphere.

Post-Event

  • Assist with clean-up and re-packing of FOH supplies.
  • Return unused bar stock and reconcile float and sales.

Qualifications

  • Previous front-of-house, retail, or hospitality experience an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable using tablets, point-of-sale systems (Square), and basic troubleshooting.
  • Friendly, calm demeanor with strong customer service skills.
  • Access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s licence is an asset.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and move quickly throughout the venue.
  • Smart Choices or Serving It Safe certification (or willingness to complete prior to start).
  • Interest in music and live performance is a plus.
